World Doubles Shoot Off 2009 (Part 2)

It took into the second box of shells before it got down to just Wayne Mayes and Sam Armstrong shooting head-to-head for the Championship Title. Then Wayne misses...

Sam immediately uses a little known technique to lull Wayne into further misses but eventually ends Wayne’s torture. See if Sam makes it all the way through the congratulations without passing out.

World Doubles Shoot Off 2009 (Part 1)

Over a dozen shooters qualified for the Stadium Field in the Doubles Event with some new shooters, some old shooters, some obvious shooters, some unknown shooters, and even three from England.

The battle got tough as half the field was gone by the 7th station. Did YOUR favorite shooter make it that far???

World C-of-C Skeet Shoot Off 2009 (Part 1)

The Champion-of-Champions shoot off at the World Skeet Shooting Championships comes after all competitors shoot a round each with the 12 gauge, the 20 gauge, the 28 gauge, and the .410 bore. That gives the shooter a score out of 100 targets and those who haven’t missed move on to a round of Doubles (at Stations 3, 4, and 5) with the .410 to weed the field down to the few that will shoot off on

Wayne Mayes Skeet Clinic - Station 6

Wayne finishes up his videos of his Skeet Clinic in Canton OH last summer with a quick explanation on how to shoot Station 6. High 6 is a shot where you get to check your lead and low 6 is a swing and stick-it shot much like High 2 is.

Be a part of the select group of shooters who have learned from Wayne by joining his Doubles Skeet Clinic in Canton OH on Friday June 26, 2009 at Sportsmen’s

Wayne Mayes Skeet Clinic - High 4

Wayne continues the clinic series with an explanation of how to shoot High 4. Leads on High 4 are the same as the leads on High 5 and the leads on Low 4 are the same as the leads on Low 3. Therefore, Wayne starts the clinic’s assault on High 4 by starting to see the lead from Station 5.

World Skeet Shoot “Faces” 2008

Last but not least, the final video of the 2008 World Skeet Shooting Championships is a collection of faces and outakes from around the shoot. Enjoy the ladies-in-pink, Brian Foley and Peter Usher’s awards, along with the boys from Detroit.

See if you can find yourself or any of your friends in the crowd shots. If you haven’t attended a World Shoot yet, then by all means put the 2009

World .410 Bore Skeet Shoot Off 2008

The .410 Championship Shoot Off began with only 10 shooters making it to the Stadium Field. Among them were the Ladies .410 Champion, college sophomore Talia Borg from Lindenwood University, along with the inevitable Wayne Mayes and Todd Bender. It was Talia’s first ever 100 straight in the .410 and Wayne’s 188th and new Senior Concurrent record.

World HOA Skeet Shoot Off 2008

History was made at this year’s World Championships when two shooters both shot 550X550 perfect scores in the HOA Event. However, the history making part was that after being friends and shooting partners for decades, these two giants of the game (Wayne Mayes and Todd Bender) decided NOT to go head-to-head in a shoot off but to declare themselves HOA Co-Champions in honor of their friendship.

The English shooters who came to the 2008 NSSA World Skeet Championships out did themselves this year including the Champion of the 28 Ga. Event who won his very first World Title.

Phil Murray, Wayne Mayes, and L.P. Giambrone all went out on one station leaving Usher, Williams, and Fairbank to fight it out for spots on the podium in a shoot off that went only one box in the Stadium field at the

The lead off shooter in this event almost missed the shoot off. Watch the video and find out if he wasn’t just handicapped by being British and unfamiliar with how it’s done in the colonies.

Also, have fun watching the final stations and how for the second time during this World Championships Tournament a shooter gave his opponent a second chance to beat him.

World 12 Ga. Skeet Shoot Off 2008

This is a rather long video at 8 minutes, but it features all the excitement and drama of having 17 year old Brian Foley of California winning the 12 Gauge Event at the 2008 NSSA World Skeet Shooting Championships. Congratulations to Brian for his hard work and skill.

Skeet Life Between The Mini-World & Main 2008

Every year at the NSSA World Skeet Shooting Championships there are new and old faces alike that wander the grounds and enjoy the events. Some are winners and some just donated but they all have a story to tell that is better than most.

Here we have some shots of what the stadium field is like while waiting for the shoot offs for the Main events to begin. Billy Ray Suggs does his best to

Mini-World .410 Bore Skeet Shoot Off 2008

L.P. Giambrone may not be as tall as some other shooters, but he makes up for it by crushing lots more targets than they do. Here Paul wins another title in the Mini-World by taking the .410 event in a night time shoot off against the likes of Wayne Mayes and Billy D. Williams.

L.P. is no stranger to the shoot off field and has come back strong after a short recess from shooting recently.

Mini-World 20 Ga. Skeet Shoot Off 2008

Craig Lakey came all the way across the pond from England to beat up on a few of us “colonials” and take the Mini-World 20 gauge event.

It didn’t take Craig very long to beat everyone else, but our own Robert Paxton was once again in the hunt in this event, as well. PAXTON ARMS of Dallas is a strong supporter of the game of skeet... and the folks there don’t shoot half bad, either.

Mini-World HOA Skeet Shoot Off 2008

The Mini-World HOA found Billy D. Williams of Montana as the final winner after starting the shoot off with an unusual “standard round of skeet” as the beginning round in the final shoot off.

The sequence of shoot offs vary according to the guns needed to shoot each and the desire to change tubes as little as possible in one night. Thus the HOA event was decided before the 20 gauge and .410

Wayne Mayes Skeet Clinic - High 3

Station 3 High House is a shot in the game of skeet that is very similar to how to shoot Station 2 High House, as explained by All-American Wayne Mayes.

Wayne also gives his students a little insight into what are the toughest shots in the game and what is the only shot that you should even have a tendency to miss. If you can break all of the first shots and all of the in-coming shots then that

Wayne Mayes Skeet Clinic - High 2

This is a quick little video from Wayne’s Skeet Clinic that explains his thoughts on shooting Station 2 High House.

Wayne recently ran a perfect 550X550 at the NSSA World Skeet Shooting Championships and holds more titles and perfect scores than anyone else in the game. With that kind of knowledge and his easy going style, he makes a great teacher on how to shoot skeet successfully and do it

What skeet ISN’T...

“Buckshot Bob” had a pet peeve about how many people refer to what they are doing as SKEET when in fact it ISN’T. Just shooting clay targets with a shotgun always gets lumped into the same term “skeet” and this video hopes to catch people’s attention about this constant misuse of the word.

It’s also a blatant plug for the web site which doesn’t hurt either.

Hopefully, there will be folks who
